Unconscious bias, or implicit thought patterns, influences how we perceive, assess, and collaborate with others. In interdisciplinary and culturally diverse research teams, a variety of professional perspectives, experiences, communication styles, and expectations converge. This workshop covers the basics of unconscious bias, identifies common thought patterns, and encourages participants to reflect on their own patterns of perception and evaluation. Together, we will explore how unconscious assumptions can affect communication, collaboration, and decision-making in work and research settings.
